In an effort to eliminate misinformation, Instagram adds new processes to help users find accurate updates related to the Coronovirus.
According to Social media Today, “Given the significant role that social platforms now play in the distribution of news and information, it’s important that they are going to these efforts, and seeking to ensure that misinformation is not being spread through their networks.”
As Polarity Technologies Ltd has learned, Instagram is removing harmful misinformation related to the virus outbreak, and directs users towards credible sources of information. More specifically, whenever someone taps on a hashtag related to COVID-19, Instagram highlights links of WHO, CDC and other health authorities. On top of that, Instagram blocks misleading posts, hashtags and ads seeking to take advantage of the situation.
It’s good to see big social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook taking steps to prevent misinformation about COVID-19.
